A great white shark has mauled renowned rugby player Jade Kahukore-Dixon off the coast of New Zealand.
The athlete was diving from a boat near the Chatham Islands near New Zealand.
Emergency services arrived at the scene and took Dixon to hospital, but his life could not be saved, the National World report emphasized.
Jacqui Dixon's heartbroken father told how much his son loved fishing and diving from a young age, explaining that Jade would hold his breath and hide from sharks behind rocks on the seabed while diving.
Four years ago, the athlete narrowly escaped a shark attack when his foot became stuck under a rock.
A police spokesman said emergency services were called to the scene following reports of a man being seriously injured after being attacked by a shark.
Jade Kahukore-Dixon was rushed to hospital. Despite the efforts of rescuers, Jade died from his multiple injuries.
