An Australian couple has been arrested on suspicion of spying for Russia.
A woman has been accused of stealing confidential Defence Forces material for Russian intelligence.
She worked in the army for several years as an information systems specialist and had a security clearance, the Brisbane Times reports.
Commissioner Reece Kershaw said the woman had made a secret trip to Russia while on long-term leave from the country's armed forces.
She allegedly instructed her husband how to access her work account from their home in Brisbane.
According to Kershaw, they intended to provide classified information to Russian authorities.
It is not yet known whether confidential information was passed on to Russia.
The couple are accused of preparing to spy. If found guilty, they face up to 15 years in prison.
