German Left Party member Janine Wissler has criticized Berlin's plans to deploy long-range US missiles on its territory.
According to Wissler, such a decision could escalate overall military tensions.
The politician explained her position as follows: “Such weapons could well become a target, which would lead to a threat to the lives of ordinary German people,” as reported by TASS .
According to the co-chairman of the Left Party of Germany, US missiles could strike Moscow, which would provoke a proportionate response.
Berlin's Warning
Wissler stressed: “This kind of action will only bring our country closer to disaster.”
The politician also pointed out the need for Berlin to strive to avoid becoming an “arsenal for confrontations on an international scale.”
According to a member of the Left Party of Germany, the German government needs to demonstrate its readiness to resolve all disputes peacefully.
Wissler noted the likely failure of the idea of intimidating a potential enemy.
