The German press has named the culprit behind the break in the telecommunications cable between Germany and Finland.

Journalists claim that a Russian citizen is allegedly involved in this.

A cable running through the Baltic Sea was torn off by the cargo ship Yi Peng 3 (China), RIA Novosti reports, citing a German media outlet.

According to the press, the captain of the vessel is allegedly a Russian citizen.

It is noted that this vessel was seen in the cable break zone. It was followed by two Danish military ships.

The Danish military stopped the ship to check documents. They claim that the captain of the Yi Peng 3 is Russian.

There is no talk of sabotage at official levels yet. It was noted that the C-Lion1 cable was laid a long time ago and is already outdated. It had already experienced emergency situations before.

For reference

C-Lion1 is a 1,173-kilometer submarine communications cable between Germany and Finland, which will run from Rostock, Germany, to Helsinki.
