The Prime Minister of Georgia announced new measures in the country related to the ongoing protests.

Due to the recent incident, Irakli Kobakhidze intends to introduce a ban on hiding the face under masks and other elements of clothing.

The politician stated this at a briefing, his words were quoted by the TASS agency.

The decision to ban masks is linked to an incident that occurred during the protests.

Let us recall that people have started to take to the streets again for anti-government protests because the ruling party “Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia” intends to keep the issue of joining the EU off the agenda until 2028.

Although the latest protests on Saturday were peaceful, there was an incident involving masked people on a nearby street.

Unknown individuals attacked a film crew from the opposition TV channel TV Pirveli, beat up a cameraman and pushed a journalist.

To minimize such cases in the future, Kobakhidze announced a new law. It will prohibit participation in rallies with persons covered by masks or any other means.
