It is noted that the opening ceremony will take place tomorrow, July 26. The athlete, who was not admitted to the opening, has been declared to participate in the women's and mixed relays at a distance of 4x400 meters.
In France, there is a ban on wearing the hijab, adopted at the legislative level. Although the IOC previously stated that during the Olympics, wearing the hijab will be allowed both at the venues and in the Olympic Village itself.
However, French runner Sounkamba Sylla received a message that she will not be able to take part in the opening ceremony.
The President of the French IOC, David Lapartient, entered into negotiations with the athlete, hoping to resolve the current situation.
