It has become known that a dangerous disease has been identified in Moldova.
For the first time in the past five years, a patient infected with West Nile fever was recorded here.
The republic’s Ministry of Health reported this on its official Facebook account*.
According to the department, the case concerns a 49-year-old man who was vacationing in Italy from July 26 to 30.
According to the patient, he was bitten several times by mosquitoes, which are the main carriers of the dangerous disease.
It is noted that the man is currently in a medical facility, he is receiving medical care. The patient's condition with West Nile fever is assessed as satisfactory.
The Ministry of Health emphasized that the fever was last diagnosed in Moldova in 2019. Thus, the case described above is the first in five years.
