Before this, information appeared that Finland could, as an experiment, open one checkpoint on the border with the Russian Federation.

Such a decision may be made this coming winter. However, no more precise dates have been given.

Local media reports that authorities will assess the situation with migrants and then make a final decision.

But for now, the possibility of a complete opening of the eastern border has been ruled out.
