Finnish first-graders escape from excursion and end up in Russia

A group of Finnish schoolchildren left an excursion and found themselves on Russian territory.

The children crossed the Russian-Finnish border and came into the sight of border guards.

About ten school students voluntarily left the excursion, which took place near the Kokkola River, writes the publication IltaSamomat .

The minors went into the forest and five of them managed to visit Russian territory and then return back.

It is noted that they entered the territory of the Vyborg district of the Leningrad region.

At the same time, they filmed themselves walking past the red-green border post.

Finnish border guards responded to the incident. The schoolchildren were detained and a preliminary investigation was initiated.

Offenders are in first grade, and the age of criminal responsibility in Finland starts at fifteen.

For now, border guards are planning to contact the children’s legal representatives and their Russian colleagues in the Vyborg district.
