Finland Discusses Bill on Temporary Restriction of Gas Imports from Russia and Belarus

The Ministry of Economy and Employment has submitted a corresponding document for consultation.

The bill is aimed at temporarily restricting the supply of natural gas and liquefied natural gas from Russia and Belarus to the Finnish gas network, RIA Novosti reports.

Finland is likely planning to limit gas imports into the country from the aforementioned countries.

The gas supply restriction applies to connected pipelines or liquefied natural gas processing facilities.

In a statement from the department, the department clarified that proposals on the bill will be accepted until February 3.

The bill was drafted in accordance with EU rules that allow EU countries to temporarily restrict imports of Russian natural gas.
