The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has confirmed information about searches being conducted at the home of Dmitry Simes.
The American intelligence service organized the operational activities with the permission of the court.
On Friday, August 16, FBI agents raided the estate of the political scientist and Channel One host, RIA Novosti reports.
The agency carried out "law enforcement" actions. It is emphasized that the FBI leadership acted strictly according to protocol, having waited for an order from a judge.
The exact reason why the operatives came to Simes' estate has not yet been officially disclosed.
"We do not have any further comment as the case is in an active phase," the bureau responded.
The TV presenter said that he was not informed that any investigation was being conducted against him.
Symes said he would try to understand the situation and then take appropriate action.
In addition, the political scientist said that he has not been to the United States since 2022.
