Josep Borrell announced the dispatch of an EU “political mission” to Georgia.

The head of European diplomacy spoke about this on Monday, November 18, following a meeting of the heads of the EU Foreign Ministries.

Brussels is closely monitoring what is happening in Georgia after the parliamentary elections.

But the EU intends to do more than just analyse news reports.

European politicians want to directly study everything that has happened in the republic recently, TASS reports.

A "political mission" will be sent for this purpose. Its representatives will arrive in Tbilisi and hold talks with the president of the republic and other government officials.

Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili previously called for new parliamentary elections.

The politician did not recognize the results of the recent elections, after which opposition rallies took place in the country.

According to Zurabishvili, Georgia has found itself in a political crisis, the way out of which will be new elections.
