A verdict has been handed down in China over the mass kidnapping of children.
Yu Huaying, who stole and sold 17 minors, was sentenced to death.
This was reported by the Chinese publication Xinhua . It is noted that the initial death sentence was handed down a year ago.
However, it was decided to postpone the final sentencing, since new victims of the defendant in the case were discovered.
The investigation revealed that there were significantly more victims: not 11, as was initially established, but 17.
As a result, the case was sent back for retrial and the verdict was upheld. The woman was also deprived of all political rights for life and sentenced to confiscation of property.
As noted in the publication, during the trial, the defendant did not show any remorse or guilt towards the victims.
It is specified that the woman's first victim was her own child. After that, in 2004, the woman was detained for the first time and accused of stealing children, but then she managed to pass herself off as someone else.
After serving her first eight-year sentence, the defendant was released and continued to engage in illegal activities.
