Russian tourists who found themselves on board a cruise ship in Japan are unable to leave the ship.
The reason for this is that tourists do not have Japanese visas, which were not provided for short-term excursions during the cruise.
The Association of Tour Operators of Russia explained that such visas are not required for cruise passengers who do not plan to stay in Japan for a long time.
The main problem is that Russian tourists cannot leave the liner and go to Shanghai without a visa.
The cruise ship Spectrum of the Seas was unable to continue its journey from the Japanese port of Yokohama to Shanghai due to engine failure.
As a result, tourists who were planning to change flights in Shanghai are now unable to do so.
About 50 Russians have sought help from the Russian consulate to obtain permission to fly home.
Japanese authorities have not yet made a decision regarding the Russian passengers on board the Spectre of the Seas.
