France has launched an investigation against the Telegram messenger.

It turned out that another European country had joined it.

According to the publication Soir , the Belgian Federal Prosecutor's Office has also expressed a desire to join the ongoing investigation.

It is noted that the Belgian agency has long shown interest in the Russian messenger. Since 2020, Belgium has suspected Telegram of being involved in criminal groups involved in arms smuggling.

That is why France and Belgium have decided to create a joint investigation team. This will enable experts to share their findings and carry out joint actions.

Let us recall that at the end of the summer, the founder of the messenger, Pavel Durov, was detained at the French airport Le Bourget.

The businessman is suspected of several cybercrimes and could face up to 10 years in prison if found guilty.
