An incident that took place in Spain has become known.
During the flood, the town called Almonacid de la Cuba was saved thanks to an ancient dam located nearby.
This was reported by the Spanish publication El Español .
It is noted that the dam in question is 2,000 years old. It was built during the reign of the Roman Emperor Augustus, and the structure is recognized as the tallest surviving one in the world.
Nevertheless, it managed to prove its effectiveness even after such a long period of time.
The dam was designed in such a way that it was possible to divert the water that was threatening the people away from the city. Thanks to this, the city of Almonacid de la Cuba managed to avoid any damage.
Let us recall that Spain is being drenched by torrential rains and thunderstorms, which is why the country is covered by floods that have already led to casualties among the country's population.
In connection with what is happening, the Spanish government has declared three days of mourning in the country.
