A criminal defense attorney recalled the differences between American and French law. While the United States allows for the possibility of adding up sentences for all convictions, in France, a person can only be convicted for one offense.
The most serious crime Durov is charged with is drug trafficking as part of an organized group. The maximum sentence for this crime in France is 10 years in prison.
Therefore, if Durov is convicted, he faces a prison sentence of no more than 10 years.
