The journey ended in tragedy, leaving more questions than answers.
A raft containing the bodies of 54-year-old Sarah Packwood and her 70-year-old husband Brett Cliberry washed ashore on the small island of Sable (Canada).
This happened more than a month after they were reported missing, The Guardian writes.
The couple planned to travel on a small yacht from the Canadian city of Halifax to the Azores (Portugal). To do this, they had to cross almost the entire Atlantic Ocean.
They began their journey on June 11 and lost contact after June 13. Only recently did a life raft containing their bodies wash ashore on Sable Island, 280 km from Halifax.
The travelers' yacht has not yet been found. But the main questions are different: what happened to the spouses, why they had to save themselves on a raft, and what caused their death. Experts are still looking for answers to these questions.
Sarah and Brett were quite experienced sailors. They sailed along the west coast of Canada and the United States, and crossed the Panama Canal.
Their latest voyage was called the Green Odyssey, and the couple planned to sail on an eco-friendly yacht using only sails and a solar-powered engine.
