A fire suddenly broke out at the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
The fire was discovered in the elevator shaft between the first and second floors.
As a result of the incident, visitors who were nearby were evacuated, The Mirror reported.
Emergency services teams are working at the scene to fight the fire.
According to eyewitnesses, the Eiffel Tower is currently closed.

According to preliminary assessments, the fire was caused by overheating of a cable or device in one of the elevators.
The Eiffel Tower has suffered one major fire in the past. A fire broke out in the television control room in January 1956 and caused significant damage to the top of the tower.
Restoration work took a year, and then the current radio antenna was added to its top.
Paris is also still remembering the fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in 2019. This year, the first mass was held after the church was restored.
