One person dead, six missing after superyacht Bayesian sinks.
The cause of the incident at sea was a tornado that broke out off the coast of Palermo, Italy (Sicily).
There were 22 people on board the 56-metre yacht, Sky News reports. Twelve people were guests, the remaining 10 were crew members.
On board were citizens of Britain, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, France and Ireland.
The ship set sail on the evening of August 18 and dropped anchor near the shore. The storm that hit the coast of Palermo was so strong that it led to the sinking of a large vessel.
A Dutch rescue ship was located near the scene of the incident. It received a distress signal and came to the rescue.
They managed to rescue 15 people, one died, and they are still searching for six more.
Bayesian is equipped with a 75-meter mast (the 2nd tallest in the world). Eight-cylinder engines can accelerate this vessel to 15 knots (27 km/h).
