Today, Orthodox believers honor the memory of Saint Stephen of Makhrishchi.
Among the people, this celebration is called Stephen's Day.

Stefan Makhrishchsky was born in Kyiv in the 14th century AD. He took monastic vows very early. This happened in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.
The future saint spent quite a lot of time in the said temple, praying tirelessly and praising the Lord.
Stefan Makhrishchi was a very devout Christian believer. He constantly abstained from temptations and served as an example for the other monks.
Subsequently, Stefan Makhrishche left the Lavra and went to the town of Makhrishche, where other Orthodox believers subsequently began to flock to him.
Together with their teacher, the Christians erected a monastery in honor of the Holy Trinity, where Stefan Makhrishsky took on the duties of abbot.
Later, the future saint chose the path of solitude. Many years later, the believers built a chapel where he prayed.
What you shouldn't do on St. Stephen's Day
On this day, many people followed certain rules:
- were not lazy or idle;
- did not negotiate or make any important decisions;
- did not quarrel or get divorced, did not allow quarrels and problems in their personal lives.
It was on July 27 that it was considered a grave sin to commit ungodly acts, namely, to throw away food products. Otherwise, according to beliefs, you can lose food.
What can you do on St. Stephen's Day?
Today it is recommended to do good deeds, namely, to help those in need.
It is also recommended to go for a walk with your significant other. You can walk alone if you are single.
It is also worth going to your summer cottage and weeding out the weeds.
