Among the people, this celebration is called the Rudny Icon of the Mother of God.

In Rus', on this day it was customary to go to the forest to pick ripe berries and enjoy them.

Saint Euphemia the All-Praised is known to Orthodox believers primarily for the fact that she suffered martyrdom in the city of Chalcedon in 304.

At that time, there was serious persecution of Christians, but Euphemia was a devout Christian and was not afraid of possible retribution for this.

The saint died for her faith, becoming a victim of the actions of the idolatrous Emperor Diocletian. The ruler executed Euphemia after she refused to accept Christianity.

Subsequently, the relics of the holy great martyr Euphemia were placed in a church in the city of Chalcedon.

The council itself was convened in order to formulate the dogma of the Orthodox Church about the nature of the God-man Jesus Christ.
