Today, Orthodox believers honor the memory of the great martyr Panteleimon.

Among the people, this celebration is called Panteleimon Day.

In Rus', it was customary to watch the weather on this day. Thus, it was believed that the haze, which is a wet fog, can give special power.

The Great Martyr Panteleimon lived in the 3rd century AD in Nicomedia, which today is the territory of modern Turkey.

Panteleimon was born into a very specific family. In particular, his father was a rich pagan, and his mother secretly professed Christianity.

Panteleimon inherited his love for religion from his mother. He later became a student of the priest Ermolai himself.

He, in turn, taught the young believer everything he knew. In addition, he performed the rite of baptism for him.

Panteleimon came to believe in Jesus Christ after one day Ermolai, having read a prayer to Jesus Christ, resurrected a dead child.

Then the future world-famous holy miracle worker healer chose the path of a physician for himself.
