Kuzminki: what can and cannot be done on this holiday - important advice for Orthodox Christians

14.11.2024 00:20

Today's Kuzminki is dedicated to Saints Cosmas and Damian, who became famous for their miraculous healings and help.

These brothers lived in the 3rd-4th centuries and helped everyone who needed treatment, without demanding any payment for their work.

What not to do

Avoid judging others

Don't judge others, either in words or thoughts. This day is for inner transformation, not for reproach.

Put aside fears about the future

Don't worry about what might happen. Remember that God is always there and He cares for all people, even in the most difficult situations.

Don't ask for temporary benefits

Instead of asking for material things, it is better to pray for spiritual grace and health.

What can be done

Give alms

Give help to people without the desire to receive praise. Let caring for others come from the heart.

Housework

Devote your time to household chores. Even small work, if done with love, will strengthen the soul.

Avoid quarrels

This is a time for peace in your soul and around you. Avoid conflicts and irritations, trying to remain meek and patient.

Have get-togethers

In Kuzminki, girls invited guys, arranged gatherings and festive games. It was a day of fun and joyful amusements.

Observe the signs

Leave the window slightly open so that happiness can come in. If there is no one in the house, happiness can go away.

Improve relationships with loved ones

If there were quarrels, this day is suitable for taking the first step towards reconciliation. This will strengthen family ties.
