The skin is the largest organ of our body.

The skin is designed to protect the body from a huge number of external influences, including weather changes and temperature changes.

One of the factors indicating that your skin's protective functions are at their limit is peeling. But how can you help it? To answer this question, you need to understand the reasons for peeling skin, says Nailya Shigapova .

Causes of peeling skin:

Lack of moisture

Dry indoor air, wind, snowstorms, sun rays, high and low temperatures outside – all this dries out the skin and makes it peel.

Frequent washing (especially with hot water), aggressive cleansers (especially soapy and used for a long time), vigorous rubbing with a towel, use of scrubs and hard washcloths - cause irritation, disrupt the hydrolipid layer and also lead to peeling.

Lack of vitamins

Deficiency of vitamins A, C, E, and zinc will immediately affect your skin. If your face is peeling, then include greens, citrus fruits (if there is no allergy), carrots, avocado, liver, pumpkin, sea buckthorn, broccoli, bell peppers, oils (corn, peanut, cottonseed), fatty fish in your diet. These products will help restore your skin to a beautiful and well-groomed appearance, making it healthier.

Side effect of acne medications

When treating acne with systemic retinoids, skin peeling is not just a side effect, but speaks to the effectiveness of the therapy. Emollients are used throughout the treatment period - a mixture of complex chemicals that have a softening and moisturizing effect on the skin.

But it also happens that a person uses external therapy for acne treatment (Baziron, Azelik, Effesel, etc.) not for treatment, but as a preventative measure, so that inflammation does not appear - this is fundamentally wrong and even dangerous due to the appearance of dermatitis!

Allergy

Peeling may also indicate an allergy. If, in addition to peeling, you notice redness, itching, burning or numbness, consult a doctor immediately!

Diets

Uncontrolled low-fat diets, mono-diets, frequent fasting days - all this leads to dehydration, lack of microelements and, as a result, peeling of the face. If you are concerned about excess weight - eat a balanced and healthy diet, exercise and drink enough water.

Menopause

With the onset of menopause (around age 45), a woman experiences various changes, including the loss of the skin's natural ability to produce fatty substances (lipids). After menopause, a woman's skin loses up to 57% of its fat, which leads to dryness, itching, flaking, and a feeling of tightness.

Abuse of powder

The absorbent particles of the powder can additionally dry out the skin with subsequent use, causing peeling, so please do not get carried away with this process, it is quite sufficient to use matting wipes.

As you can see, there can be many reasons for peeling skin, and if you notice such a phenomenon as peeling, do not panic, you need to find out the cause of peeling and eliminate it.

Earlier, the doctor named harmful eating habits that “destroy” the stomach.
