White and red beans are the two most popular types of legumes on the Russian table.
Since these two products taste similar, many people wonder how they actually differ.
Let's figure out which beans are healthier and which product is preferable to eat.
Which beans are healthier: white or red
Firstly, the two types of beans differ from each other in colour and shape. Red beans are denser, their colour is more saturated, unlike white beans.
Moreover, the nutrient content of both types of legumes is approximately the same.
White beans contain:
- vitamins A, B, B9, C, E, K and PP;
- microelements, including copper;
- amino acids;
- fiber, due to which after eating legumes hunger subsides for a long time.
Red beans boast the same composition, only with the addition of zinc and potassium, as well as antioxidants.
In general, both products are worth eating, especially during Lent. It is recommended to replace forbidden products such as meat with legumes.
