What is Dandruff: How to Get Rid of It

Among scalp diseases, one of the most common is dandruff. This disease has an infectious origin (fungi).

In some cases, proper hair care is all that is needed to treat this disease.

And if the case is severe or advanced, then it is necessary to use specially developed means for this purpose, which are prescribed by trichologists.

There are two types of dandruff.

Oily dandruff

This type of dandruff is caused by fat accumulating on the head. This type of dandruff covers the entire scalp in the form of a white crumbling crust. The resulting fat clogs the sebaceous and sweat glands. With this type of dandruff, the hair is shiny and quickly becomes greasy.

Dry dandruff

This type of dandruff is called dry because the sebaceous glands do not produce enough oil. The scalp becomes flaky and dry.

Dandruff appears dry and fine. Hair becomes thin, dry and has split ends.

How to differentiate between these two types of dandruff? If your hair becomes greasy and shiny 4 days after washing, and dandruff appears, then these are manifestations of oily dandruff. And if itching and peeling appear 2 days after washing, then you have dry dandruff.

Many people do not pay attention to dandruff. This disease can appear in both adults and children.

This condition can lead to hair loss or other skin conditions.

To prevent the disease, sometimes it is enough to just follow the rules of personal hygiene, i.e. keep your hair clean and wash your combs as often as possible. Dandruff can later turn into such a serious disease as seborrhea.
