In chronic and acute gastritis, it is important to exclude foods that irritate the gastric mucosa and increase the inflammatory process.

Below are food groups that are harmful to the stomach during gastritis.

Foods rich in acids

Products rich in acids can be divided into several groups:
1. Fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables contain organic acids: citric, malic, tartaric, oxalic. Fruit and vegetable acids have an antioxidant effect, improve digestion and immunity. But they irritate the mucous membrane and aggravate gastrointestinal pathologies.

2. Dairy products. Dairy products contain lactic acid, which is formed when milk sugar is fermented by bacteria. It helps to absorb calcium and improve digestion. Some people do not tolerate fermented milk products well: they cause bloating and diarrhea.

3. Meat and fish. These products contain uric acid. It is formed during the breakdown of purines, which are found in meat and fish. Uric acid does not have a specific taste. In large quantities, it can lead to the development of gout, joint pain, kidney stones, and other health problems.

4. Carbonated drinks. In the production of carbonated drinks, citric acid is used, which gives them a sour taste. It can enhance the taste and aroma of drinks, as well as improve their preservation. In large quantities, citric acid injures the gastric lining, increases the acidity of gastric juice and worsens gastrointestinal problems.

Spicy and fatty foods

In case of gastritis, you should exclude the following products:

• fried meat, French fries;
• hamburgers, pizza;
• fatty meats (pork, lamb, duck);
• cream, sour cream, butter;
• hot spices, salty foods, smoked foods;
• pickled and canned products.

Coarse and hard foods

If you have gastritis, you should not eat black bread, radishes, celery, or raw carrots. They irritate the stomach lining.

A person with gastritis may experience heartburn from seeds and nuts.

Vegetables with coarse fiber complicate digestion. In case of gastritis, it is recommended to avoid legumes, cabbage, spinach, mushrooms
