A professional surgeon warned about the dangerous consequences of one disease.
According to the expert, hepatitis C causes the development of liver cancer in patients in 95% of cases.
These observations were shared by the head of the center for new surgical technologies at the A. I. Burnazyan Federal Medical and Biological Center, Ilya Kolyshev, RIA Novosti reports.
One of the main dangers of this disease, which is why it has been dubbed a silent killer, is its asymptomatic nature. Liver diseases can remain undetected for years.
At the same time, hepatitis C has long ceased to be the preserve of drug addicts and those who have promiscuous sexual relations. Everyone is at risk, the surgeon believes.
Kolyshev listed the main symptoms of hepatitis:
- pain throughout the body and especially in the abdomen;
- temperature;
- pain in the right hypochondrium;
- jaundice.
The doctor reminded that hepatitis C, unlike cancer, is successfully treatable. With the right medication, the disease recedes.
