A phlebologist named the main factors in the development of thrombosis and blood clot formation.
Dr. Tahir Yarakhmedov shared a comment on this topic.
In a conversation with the Health Mail portal, a cardiovascular surgeon and phlebologist identified a number of reasons for the occurrence of blood clots.
Thrombosis can develop with prolonged immobility. This happens, for example, during illness, injury, long journeys or flights.
Sometimes this happens during long surgeries. Also at risk are people diagnosed with varicose veins.
Blood clots also form when there is insufficiency of venous valves, the doctor said.
Yarakhmedov added that a number of factors can increase the intensity of the thrombus formation process.
As an example, the doctor cited damage to the vascular walls due to inflammation, trauma, aneurysms, and atherosclerosis.
Also at risk are diabetics, overweight people, pregnant women, men over 40 and others.
The more factors, the higher the probability of blood clots, the phlebologist summed up.
