Higher blood testosterone levels may help men under 65 avoid diabetes.
This is due to the reduced risk of its development.
This is stated in a study that was presented at the Endocrine Society's ENDO 2024 meeting.
During the experiment, scientists studied data from 1,315 men aged 35 to 85 years.
The volunteers did not have diabetes or cancer during the study. They also did not take testosterone.
However, after five years, 110 men were found to have developed type 2 diabetes.
At the same time, scientists emphasize that men with excess weight and high testosterone levels had a lower risk of developing diabetes.
The researchers concluded that an active lifestyle and avoiding alcohol will help maintain normal testosterone levels in men. This will also protect against the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
