Spices play an important role in regulating blood glucose and cholesterol levels.
Including cinnamon, black cumin and ginger in the diet has been shown to have positive health effects.
Scientists from the UAE University have figured out what the benefits of these three simple spices are, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports.
Benefits of spices
Consuming spices on a regular basis has a positive effect on people suffering from metabolic syndrome.
In a long-term experiment, it was found that the use of ginger and black cumin helped to reduce the level of glucose and total LDL cholesterol.
A similar result for glucose was observed when consuming cinnamon.
However, the most impressive results were achieved when black cumin was included in the diet.
Cinnamon also had the greatest effect on reducing glycated hemoglobin levels.
Using spices
Experts recommend adding this spice to drinks, morning cereals, yogurts and smoothies.
Ginger, pre-grated, is useful in dishes when fresh.
Caraway should be used as an additive to meat dishes, rice and salads.
Thus, cinnamon, black cumin and ginger have significant health effects in terms of controlling blood glucose and cholesterol levels.
