An incident that took place in Germany has become known.

The surgeon contracted cancer during an operation he performed on a cancer patient.

A rare case is described in the New England Journal of Medicine.

It is noted that this incident has already been recognized as unique, since oncological diseases are not transmitted from one person to another through blood.

However, while removing a fibrous histiocytoma from the patient's abdomen, the surgeon accidentally cut himself while placing a drain.

Despite the fact that the wound was immediately treated, after some time doctors discovered a lump about 3 centimeters in diameter in its place.

The tests carried out revealed that this was the same tumor that the surgeon had previously removed from his patient.

According to experts, the doctor's immune system was unable to cope with the foreign tumor, and therefore it was able to take root inside his finger.

An operation was performed, during which the tumor was removed. It is noted that no traces of cancer were found in the doctor's body.
