Uncontrolled use of antibiotics leads to the emergence of bacteria that are resistant to drugs.

This was warned by Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences Dmitry Kompantsev, head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology and Medical Biotechnology at the Pyatigorsk Medical and Pharmaceutical Institute.

He spoke about this in an interview with the Komsomolskaya Pravda publication.

The scientist listed the main reasons for the emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

He explained that there are always millions of bacteria, including pathogenic microorganisms, present in the human body.

When the immune system is weakened, these microorganisms begin to actively multiply.

If you take antibiotics without control at this point, the bacteria will not die, but may adapt to new drugs.

Frequent use of antibiotics causes bacteria to adapt to them.

Kompantsev also named infection as another reason for the appearance of antibiotic-resistant bacteria in the body.

The specialist emphasized that hospitals could be hotbeds of these superbugs.

Kompantsev summarized that bacterial infections appear due to weakened immunity in the presence of opportunistic flora.
