Blood-sucking ticks are four times larger than normal ticks and can carry deadly diseases.

These ticks are more aggressive and better hunters than other common species.

Scientists fear that these beetles could spread rapidly across Europe, The Sun reports.

Originally, these large ticks (Hyalomma lusitanicum) lived in the tropical climates of Africa and Southeast Asia.

However, in recent years they are said to have become more active and are increasingly carried by wild animals, including rabbits.

A study by scientists has shown that ticks capable of transmitting the deadly Crimean-Congo fever have been found throughout almost all of Barcelona.

In addition, in the spring they were detected in eight districts of the north-eastern region of Catalonia.

They are also found in Great Britain, Portugal, Sardinia, Malta, as well as in Germany, Sweden and northern parts of Italy.

Scientists are concerned that this dangerous species of tick appears to be making itself at home in colder climates.
