There are many liver diseases and therefore it is impossible to talk about a single, ideal diet for every sick person.
Depending on the liver disease, dietary recommendations may differ, so it is worth contacting a clinical nutritionist and creating an appropriate menu together. However, there are general recommendations that can be called a "liver diet".
One thing is for sure, a liver diet, like other diets, should be easily digestible and well balanced.
Liver Diet - Prohibited Foods
People with liver disease should exclude from their diet foods that are rich in fiber and cause flatulence, that is, cruciferous, onion and legume vegetables, as well as some fruits, such as plums, pears or cherries.
The list of non-recommended products also includes: hot spices, black bread, fatty meat and cold meats, lard, hard margarines, some vegetables, such as celery, beets. Carbonated drinks, strong infusions (for example, tea, coffee, cocoa) and alcohol are also not recommended.
People with limited fat tolerance should also avoid fatty cheeses, eggs, fatty cakes and pies, and chocolate. Highly processed foods such as canned foods should also be avoided.
People with liver disease should also keep in mind general recommendations for preparing and eating food.
First, they should avoid foods fried or baked in fat (preferably boiled, steamed or stewed without fat), as well as deep-fried foods.
Secondly, they should eat 5 times a day, but the meals should be small in volume. Also, remember to hydrate properly.
Important: People with liver disease should avoid fructose, such as in fruits and honey.
Liver Diet - Allowed Products
People with liver disease can eat (provided they do not have food intolerances) lean meat and meat, low-fat dairy products, young and juicy vegetables, ripe and juicy fruits, wheat bread, buns. Of the spices, herbs such as parsley, dill, marjoram and lemon juice are recommended.
