Scientists from Italy have discovered that chemical compounds contained in beer hops can slow the development of Alzheimer's disease.
As experts have found out, these substances suppress the formation of beta-amyloid plaques.
Biologists from the University of Milano-Bicocca explained: “The chemical compounds we described are concentrated in hop flowers,” as reported by the Pravda.ru portal.
It is emphasized that at present Alzheimer's disease has no effective and efficient treatment.
Course of the disease
As the Italian scientists explained, their research is aimed at finding and developing preventive measures against the above-mentioned disease.
The researchers added: "Analysis of hop flowers showed that they contain a lot of antioxidants."
Moderate consumption of such substances reduces the formation and accumulation of beta-amyloid proteins.
