With emphysema, they expand and the elasticity of the walls is lost. As a result of these changes, proper breathing and oxygen supply are difficult.
The disease leads to heart disease and even pneumothorax.
Emphysema most often affects older people and men.
Treatment of emphysema
The disease develops as a complication after bronchitis, pneumonia, asthma, tuberculosis.
Smoking, polluted air, and hazardous production negatively affect the condition of the alveoli.
Ivanov emphasized that there is no specific treatment for emphysema yet.
Doctors recommend quitting smoking and using bronchodilators and mucolytics.
However, it is impossible to completely overcome the disease.
