There are dozens of types of injuries and various classifications, but in everyday life, a person mainly encounters injuries to the extremities: bruises, dislocations, ligament ruptures and fractures.

The easiest option is that bruises are treated with rest, local cold and analgesics.

Tikhonov Oles Aleksandrovich, traumatologist-orthopedist, head of the traumatology-orthopedics department of the MedSwiss network of medical centers, spoke about injuries.

In addition to rest, sprains require the use of anti-inflammatory drugs and physical therapy to speed up recovery.

Fractures, ligament and meniscus tears are serious conditions that require immediate medical attention from a specialist.

It is important to remember the rules of first aid: fixing the injured limb, applying cold, calling an ambulance. Further tactics will be determined by a professional, since the patient often cannot assess the severity of the injury.

To clarify the diagnosis, ultrasound, X-ray, MRI and CT are used. Only after this is treatment prescribed: application of plaster or orthosis, arthroscopic surgery or osteosynthesis (if the fracture is cystic).

Remember – the sooner you contact a traumatologist, the higher your chances of a full recovery without consequences!
