Air conditioners may contain Legionella bacteria, which increases the risk of developing pneumonia.
These bacteria appear most often in poorly functioning systems.
The head of the Department of Ecology, Geoecology and Nature Management at the State University of Education, hygienist Sergei Gildenskiold, spoke about this in an interview with NEWS.ru.
He explained that these bacteria appear in contaminated systems whose functioning is disrupted.
In his opinion, poorly cleaned air conditioning systems are an ideal environment for the growth of legionella.
Gildenskiold recalled that pneumonia can cause pneumonia, infectious toxic shock, and affect the nervous system and gastrointestinal tract.
He warned that people with weak immune systems and chronic diseases are at risk.
The hygienist advises replacing filters in a timely manner and carrying out wet cleaning of the premises.
