Gastroenterologist and hepatologist Ekaterina Pustovit spoke about how some medications can cause liver damage.
The expert noted that such medications mainly include hormonal drugs.
In a conversation with the portal “ Doctor Peter ,” Pustovit explained: “Hormonal medications should be taken with great caution.”
Even safe medications that at first glance appear to be vitamins can pose a potential danger.

The doctor warned against taking medications, especially hormonal ones, without a systematic approach, so as not to damage the liver.
The fact is that this organ is directly involved in metabolism. Its improper functioning harms the entire body.
Pustovit added: “Most often, the consequences of taking medications incorrectly are visible 90 days after taking them.”
The expert strongly recommended that before taking such medications, tests for AST, ALT, direct bilirubin and alkaline phosphatase should be performed.
