Doctors performed an operation on a man whose liver had cysts with worms. The details were reported by the Moscow Agency, citing the press service of the Moscow Region Ministry of Health and Doctor of Medical Sciences Sergei Lisin.
It is noted that a man was admitted to the Dolgoprudny hospital with complaints of bowel disorder and abdominal pain.
It is also known that before being admitted to the hospital, the man suffered from vomiting, nausea and loss of appetite, but was in no hurry to seek medical help.
According to the press service, after the diagnosis it became clear that the person had cysts with tapeworms in his body.
They also noted that the lack of treatment could have led to a fatal outcome.
According to Lisin, doctors performed an emergency operation to remove the cysts and parasites. The man is currently undergoing treatment.
It is added that the man may have contracted echinococcosis from eating the meat of an animal in the Philippines.
