Any morning can go down the drain if you wake up with a sore throat.

It's quite easy to catch a bacteria or a virus, and one of the first symptoms will be a sore throat. What to do?

Of course, go to the doctor and take the prescribed medications regularly. However, nutrition should also be given importance when you have a sore throat: some foods can only worsen the unpleasant sensations and the condition in general. So, what foods should you avoid?

In first place are chips, crackers, pretzels and other snacks that often serve as a snack. Why shouldn't you eat them?

Particles of the food itself and grains of salt will scratch and irritate the mucous membrane of the throat when swallowed, which already suffers from inflammation. At worst, hard cookies should be soaked in a cup of tea before eating.

Second place goes to any food seasoned with hot sauce. Until the sore throat has completely subsided, it's best to forget about spicy chicken wings, jellied meat with horseradish, or steaks with Tabasco sauce.

The pungent substances in these spices dry out and irritate the throat, so choose something more bland to add to dishes, like sour cream or cream with a pinch of herbs.

Third place - citrus fruits. Along with hot sauces, acids from oranges, lemons and grapefruits can also affect the condition of the inflamed mucous membrane, so you should not supply your sick body with vitamin C by eating these fruits.

The only acceptable use of lemon is to put a slice of it in tea with honey and ginger.

It is also not recommended to drink freshly squeezed juices if the raw material for them was citrus. But you can strengthen your immune system with rosehip decoction, which also contains a lot of vitamin C.

Fourth place - coffee. The caffeine contained in this invigorating drink helps remove fluid from the body, and dehydration helps pathogenic microorganisms "take hold" in cells and tissues.

Want to get better faster and not feel pain when swallowing? Drink herbal teas without caffeine, chicory and just warm clean water.

Fifth place - sweet carbonated drinks and sweets in general. Again, pieces of shortbread or puff pastry can scratch the throat, as can carbon dioxide bubbles, which will certainly not improve the mood of the sick person.

But the danger also lies in the fact that glucose contained in sweets - liquid and solid - can settle on the inflamed mucous membrane and serve as food for the bacteria that caused the disease.

So during the active phase of flu or cold, while your throat hurts, you will have to give up sweets.

Sixth place - fried food. Often, cutlets, nuggets, fried fish or chicken become dry after frying and when swallowed, their pieces can harm the throat.

In addition, the surface of these products can be covered with a layer of breading in the form of ground breadcrumbs, nuts or seeds, which also injures the throat. If you have difficulty swallowing and feel discomfort, you should cook your food by stewing or boiling.

And seventh place - fresh raw vegetables. You can gnaw carrots, cucumbers, celery on any other days, but not when you are fighting the flu or sore throat. The reason is the same - hard parts of vegetables that will irritate the throat.

However, carrots can be stewed or boiled, and cucumbers can be finely grated to reduce the unpleasant sensations when eating them. Fruits are also better eaten pureed or baked, rather than fresh.

Earlier, doctors advised who should not eat greens.
