Serious complications may include, but are not limited to, high blood pressure and uncontrolled bleeding.

Pharmacists have told the Daily Mail about known drugs that can interact with coffee and other caffeinated drinks.

Taking medications with a cup of coffee can lead to serious complications, says Heavi Ngo-Hamilton, a pharmacist at the University of Minnesota Medical Center.

Among such drugs, pharmacists name antidepressants, over-the-counter cold and allergy medications.

This list also includes:

  • medications for osteoporosis, asthma, ADHD, diabetes, blood pressure and Alzheimer's disease, antibiotics, blood thinners and thyroid medications, antipsychotics.

Doctors explained that taking certain medications with coffee or other caffeinated drinks is highly undesirable.
