Cardiologist of Vidnovskaya Clinical Hospital Murad Kurbanmagomedov told what pulse rate at rest can be dangerous.

He explained that a pulse rate above 80–90 beats per minute at rest increases the risk of sudden death.

According to the cardiologist, as emphasized in the NEWS.ru article, the optimal heart rate for men is 60–80 beats per minute, and for women – 70–90 beats.

A resting pulse rate above 80 beats per minute may indicate tachycardia, an increased risk of sudden death.

Kurbanmagomedov also said that tachycardia can be caused by anemia, fever, intoxication and a number of other symptoms.

In his opinion, first of all, it is necessary to find out the cause of the rapid heartbeat, and then choose the correct treatment tactics.

The cardiologist reminded that an ECG should be done to detect a heart rhythm disorder. The question of an effective method of treating tachycardia is decided by the attending physician.
