Contrary to popular belief, cucumbers and tomatoes are not good neighbors for each other, since tomatoes like moisture applied under the roots, while cucumbers like sprinkling.
Cucumber bushes will not take root next to pepper plants for the same reason.
It is better to plant potatoes in a separate bed from cucumbers, otherwise both crops will get late blight. The same applies to garlic and onions.
