Gardeners often face the problem that the apple tree does not grow at all.
The reasons for such behavior of the seedling may be rooted in various problems.
Together with the expert of the online publication TUT NOVOSTI, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , we figure out why the apple tree does not grow.
Reasons for the cessation of apple tree growth
A tree can stop growing for various reasons. For example, many gardeners and summer residents do not take into account the depth of groundwater.
In this case, you will have to carry out radical pruning and grow a compact tree so that it does not have to strive to grow deep with its roots.
Also, apple trees often do not grow on sand and sandy loam. In such cases, fertilizing will help:
- humus or compost in spring and autumn;
- urea in April;
- complex feeding during flowering (a combination of superphosphate, potassium sulfate, mullein or bird droppings, which can be replaced with urea);
- nitrophoska and sodium humate during apple ripening;
- superphosphate and potassium sulfate immediately after the crop is harvested.
If the problem is that you bought a southern variety, then it is better to get rid of the tree immediately, since it will not bear fruit anyway and will die within 5 years.
