Sometimes gardeners encounter the situation where roses degenerate into wild roses.
And this can happen for several reasons.
Agronomist Anastasia Kovrizhnykh explained how to solve this problem and rehabilitate the rose.
Possible reasons
A rose can turn into a wild rose due to insufficient care.
The reason for this may be the thickening of plants, the influence of diseases and pests, waterlogged soil and other factors.
Also, a rose can degenerate if the rootstock was chosen incorrectly.
Therefore, it is worth ensuring that the rootstock and scion are compatible.
If you choose the wrong grafting site, the rose bush also risks turning into a wild rose.
Low temperatures also affect this. They can lead to freezing of the graft.
Can the rose be saved?
These processes are quite slow. But when rosehip shoots appear, it is worth removing them promptly.
First, we expose the roots, and then trim off unnecessary shoots.
Moreover, rosehip shoots must be removed at the very base, removing branches with some wood.
A root that is far from the plant and has produced a lot of shoots is best cut a meter from the bush.
