Strawberries need to be replanted to a new location every three or four years.
But this must be done correctly so as not to ruin the bushes.
Agronomist Anastasia Kovrizhnykh explained when it is best to transplant strawberries.
It is worth noting that strawberry transplantation is allowed both in spring and autumn, as well as in summer.
However, this may have some impact on its yield.
The optimal time for transplantation is considered to be early spring or early autumn.
It is only advisable to do this before mid-September. Then the plants will have time to take root before the cold weather sets in.
Otherwise, there is a risk of the bushes freezing.
However, spring transplantation has many advantages. Firstly, at this time the soil contains a lot of moisture.
Secondly, there is no longer any impact from severe frosts, and the air is warm enough.
Against this background, comfortable conditions are created for the rooting of strawberries in new places.
When replanting in the spring, some factors must be taken into account.
So, it is important that the soil is completely thawed. In addition, it is advisable to plant strawberries when the average daily temperature is at +10 degrees.
Some summer residents plant strawberries in a new place in the summer. But then the harvest can only be obtained next year.
In addition, you should not transplant strawberries in extreme heat, otherwise the bushes may die.
