What plants to plant next to tomatoes

There are some plants, the proximity of which significantly increases the yield of tomatoes. In addition, they also help protect the harvest from pests.

One such suitable neighbor is basil. It helps protect tomatoes from powdery mildew, hornworm, and Colorado potato beetle.

The convenience is that this aromatic herb does not need a separate bed. It can be planted right among the tomato bushes.

Please note that purple basil also gives tomatoes an original spicy flavor.

Good neighbors will also be:

  • borage, which protects against soil pests;
  • Marigolds repel nematodes;
  • Garlic prevents ants and late blight from settling on tomatoes.
